Get Paid to Write About Your Cichlids Print E-mail
Written by Administrator
Share your cichlid keeping experience with us, and you'll be rewarded for it. Not only will you have the satisfaction of educating people worldwide, but you'll get paid doing it! You can write about your cichlids, your new aquarium, (we all want to hear about that new bow-front fish tank), your new aquarium filter or skimmer, or even simple things like aquarium pumps and heaters.

How does this work?

We are setting up this site so that ad revenue is shared between all content authors.

This site uses Google AdSense to serve relevant ads for the content on the page. Google pays AdSense publishers on a per click basis as well as per impression. If an author has an AdSense account, 50% of the ads shown will be linked to the author's Adsense ID.

Why should I write for you?

Well, you could write content for your own site, and get a few visitors. But wouldn't you rather be part of what could potentially be the largest resource for cichlid information? As we build a network of articles and links, you'll benefit from the thousands of visitors reading your articles, and your ads will receive far more exposure than if tey were simply placed on a small personal site!

I don't have an Adsense account!

Don't let that stop you! Even if you do not have an Adsense account, you can sign up for one at anytime, and the ad engine will automatically begin serving your ads once you let us know of your Adsense ID.

Why are you doing this?

Our goal is to become the #1 source in the world for information on keeping and breeding cichlids. Seeing as there are well over 2000 known species of cichlids, it would take years to generate this amount of information. Besides, as fellow hobbyists we want the information that's most useful, the experience of other hobbyists. So sharnig ad revenue is our way of thanking you for your contributions.

How much do I have to write?

We will post guidelines on a few simple criteria required per article (size, color, aggressivenes, etc). Besides that, you can contribute as much or as little anecdotal information as you'd like. Keep in mind, users will be able to post comments on published information, so make sure it's accurate!

How do I set it up?

First you need to register on this site. Then you need to contact the editor, supply your username and Adsense Client ID. You will then be assign 'Author' rights, and can begin submitting articles immediately. We will work to automate this process into the sign-up phase.

I'm worried about you having my AdSense Client ID.

Your client ID is publicly available in the source of any page that has your AdSense ads. We do not benefit in any way by having your Adsense ID.

I look at the HTML source on posts I've made and I never see my AdSense Client ID.

The system will never display your own AdSense Client ID to you (as long as you are logged in). This is to prevent people from violating the Adsense terms and conditions (specifically the part about clicking your own ads).

Hi we just recently decided to go with south american cichlids. We have had other tropical fish in the past, but wanted something new. We got our first batch of fish from pets mart here in town and they seem to be doing great! only thing is in a two week time frame they have already eaten 60 fish.... Are we feeding them to much? we also bought the flake, and pelets, they really dont like either. Also we would like to have plants but not sure which ones the wouldnt tear up last time we had live plants our fish kept tearing them up. Also should we add medium/large rocks for them to hide in like caves. or what? We just really need help all over!!! Please email me: martineztrio@grandecom.net

i have recently bought 23 malawi cichlids for my tank and come have fungus (white stuff) growing on hteir mouths and sides. Can this be fatal? Is this to be expected in a new tank?
I don't want my fish to die!

You probably know by now, but the white fluffs are most likely ich. Ich will spread to all the fish and kill them in a matter of days if not treated and separated, and even then there is no guarantee. It is a very deadly disease.

I got Mikey, my 13" Oscar Cichlid three years ago as a fry from Wal-Mart, he currenly lives in a 55 gallon tank with five other Cichlids, and two very large Plecos. I have tried to breed him many times with no luck, he has almost killed three other Oscars, and has himself almost died four times. He has a "jumping out of the tank" habit, his last "jump" was to escape from a eight inch Texas Cichlid, who I have since moved to another tank. Since then I put the other Cichlids in with him. He seems content. I was wondering, can an Oscar breed with other Cichlid breeds? In the tank with him is a five inch Convict, I raised from egg. He has been showing signs of the breeding dance for the last four months, can these star-crossed lovers breed?

By breeding dance, do you mean vibrating? That can also be a display of aggression, so he may be behaving territorial instead of looking for a mate.

No, I mean breeding dance, vitrating, trying to "tug of war", and the "tail slapping" all of the things I have seen my breeding pair of Convicts do. I understand that just vibrating is a form of argression. This is the whole dance. But to me it does not make sense as the Oscar is three times the size of the Convict (Mindy) he seems to be showing affection for. Mikey also has been keeping "Mindy" in the corner of the tank, where the breeding rock is. When she tries to swim out of the corner, he sort of wrangles her back in and makes sure none of the other fish get near her. I asume its a her as Mikey has been seen, "fertilizing" eggs before.
