New and Getting Started... - 2009/05/19 13:33 have always had fish since I was little, always goldfish, and right now I have koi. But I know absolutely nothing about cichlids and those are the kind I want.
I have a 40 gallon tank with 3 koi fish right now but I plan to get cichlids when they die..which gives me plenty of time to do some research! lol
I want to know if my 40 gallon tank is big enough and for how many cichlids. I love the discus mainly, I want big one.. I'll even settle for discus look a likes, they dont even have to be a cichlid breed. I just dont know where to look.
I only have one library in this small town with only one book on aquarium fish.. and it doesnt have cichlids in it. So if you guys could give me some helpful books, websites, or just your experiences with them, I'd greatly appreciate it!!

Re:New and Getting Started... - 2009/05/19 19:50 I thought about going ahead and putting in some caves made from pots and flat river rocks...I know I'd need to scrub it down really good before I put it in there but is any river rocks and pots okay??
And also is it fake plants okay for cichlids? I heard they like to dig and eat plants..I dont want them to eat up those expensive live plants, but I dont want to hurt them if they try eating the plastic kind...
