Re:my cichlids are not eating - 2008/02/27 10:00 By no means am I an expert-I'm learning as I go to. Some have told me I could put more than the 13 I have right now in my 55 gallon while others have said not to. I know the "overcrowding" does help, but selecting the right mixtures of them can also help/hurt. I have all really aggressive ones, especially my Male Kenyii and Auratus. But, they are all still small and I will just watch and learn. On the feeding, I feed mine anywhere from 3-5 times a day, but only small portions (enough they can consume in 2 minutes, not 5). If they look happy and active, aggressively eating, then I would say you are feeding right. If they are lazy, showing no interest in eating, then maybe too much. try different things until you find out what works best for your fish. A must is the temp, filtration, and right diet. Also, as long as you have enough hiding spots for them, which honestly to me, a 15gl is too small, they may be ok. I would still suggest upgrading when you can to a minimum of 30gl and hopefully a 55gl. Can you send any pics? Good luck.
