Cichlid Seizure? - 2008/02/15 08:44 One of my Yellow w/horizontal black stripe Cichlids at times looks as if it is having a seizure (head/body) shakes, then it will stop and swim around. Sometimes it just stays to itself. Any ideas? All of the 8 I have are eating and have no visual marks/disease, etc. Thanks.

Re:Cichlid Seizure? - 2008/02/15 09:37 From doing search online, it appears they are either showing territorial behavior or mating behavior. Is this coorect? Thanks.

Re:Cichlid Seizure? - 2008/02/15 11:43 Yes that sounds right. My geo male shakes his body at the female and does this funny little dance around her...

Re:Cichlid Seizure? - 2008/02/15 11:45 Yeah, this is a mating dance. If your female is ready, you'll have baby cichlids in your tank soon!

Re:Cichlid Seizure? - 2008/02/16 08:53 So I can assume that I have at least one female out of my 8 in the tank?

Re:Cichlid Seizure? - 2008/02/21 12:51 If I do, how many live on average? Can I sell them? If so, how long should I wait and how much should I ask for? Thanks.

Re:Cichlid Seizure? - 2008/02/21 19:48 From what i know, people usually will put the female into her own tank. When the fry are to big for her mouth they wont go back in there anymore. Then they return the mother to the big tank and raise the fry until they are about an inch long and the sell them. Not sure what they are worth where your from
