Help in picking a cichlid - 2007/05/21 15:24 Hey, I'm planning a new 10 gallon tank and want to start keeping some cichlids other than angelfish. I know it's a small tank but dormitory rules limit me. I want to theme the tank black and white, black gravel and backing with albino or white fish. Can anyone suggest some small cichlids that are black or white?

Re:Help in picking a cichlid - 2007/07/16 02:33 A blood or red oscar would work for controling the convics population if they ever did bread. the jack dempsee and green terrors may also work in a tank that size and an upside down algue eater.

do some research and find some that have a slow growth rate or a max groth of about 6" or smaller. I beleve the green terror convics and the jack dempsee are not that large at there final lenght.

I have a red devil that I have had for 11 months he was 2" at the time now he is about 12" the types max is about 28"

and try to keep the temp on the low side it should do 2 things slow the breeding and also slow the growth rate of the fish.
