Newbie needing some help. - 2007/12/12 13:42 I have I think a Black Convict, Grey with Black stripes running up and down. Anyways, it is the back of the tank making a huge hole in the rocks. The belly of the fish is huge, is it getting ready to lay eggs? I have already had some fish have babies, but I'm not sure which one it was. I just need some anwsers...Can you help?

Re:Newbie needing some help. - 2007/12/12 15:00 Do you have more than one black convict? Have they paired off? What's the coloration like on the belly?

Re:Newbie needing some help. - 2007/12/12 15:36 I have 3 black convict. The other 2 are much smaller with the orange on the belly. My to small ones have orange on them and the bigger one has long fins. Almost like tails on the end.

Re:Newbie needing some help. - 2007/12/12 15:37 It's the two smaller ones with the orange bellies that are the females. They are the ones that will lay the eggs.

Re:Newbie needing some help. - 2007/12/12 15:58 is it normal for them to dig huge holes in the rocks? The big male is doing that.

Re:Newbie needing some help. - 2007/12/12 16:00 It's completely normal. He's claimed a territory, probably preparing a place to mate, for the female to lay her eggs.
