Cloudy Tank - 2007/08/14 17:31My tank has been set up for quite some time now and I noticed this past sunday it was cloudy and I was wondering why is that?

Re:Cloudy Tank - 2007/08/15 02:45This is most likely a bacterial bloom - very common in a new tank. It will go away by itself, but if you want to speed it up you could do a 20% water change. Oh, and make sure you remove any plant or food debris.
Don't worry though, it won't hurt your fish.

Re:Cloudy Tank - 2007/08/16 18:01 Thank you very much. I wound up going to the pet store with water sample, nitrates and ammonia high and ph down gofigure . The tank is still cloudy may take another day or so. My tank isn't real new it's been up since febuary or march that is why I was concerned.

Re:Cloudy Tank - 2007/08/20 17:29I took a sample to a fish store that specializes in ciclids and they said the ph was low for african ciclids and I had to add some more amquel. They also told me that the greenish look was algea and to turn the light off unless I'm feeding them and then leave it on for an hour or so. They said it would take about five to seven days for the water to clear. TYVM. Could you possibly send me a pic of a female with eggs, or tell me where to look to fine them. My convicts in my small tank don't hold the eggs in their mouth they place them on articles in the tank so I don't know how mouth brooders do.
