Re:Breeding African cichlids - 2007/03/15 02:04 A very common food to feed fry is freshly hatched brine shrimp. Some people also use hard boiled egg yoke dissolved in water, but I always found that too messy

Re:Breeding African cichlids - 2007/03/15 17:30 Ah it seems my fry are perfectly fine with crushed flake food. In addition, they seem to have gotten very active compared to yesterday exploring for food. Thanks again for all your help and a photo will be posted very soon.

Re:Breeding African cichlids - 2007/03/15 17:32 I am also curious as to when cleaning the tank what things should I worry about. Can I just proceed to clean it normally or should there be any precautions. Also, how often should I clean the tank? Thanks

Re:Breeding African cichlids - 2007/03/17 12:30 You probably don't need to worry about cleaning the tank for a few weeks. They fish are tiny, they aren't going to generate that much waste.

Of course, when you do clean the aquarium, just make sure you don't siphon up the babies!

Re:Breeding African cichlids - 2007/08/09 15:46 I enjoyed reading this article. It was very informative. I have convicts in a 30 gal tank that have bred 3 or 4 times since jan however i have some assorted ciclids in a 55 gal tank that have not bred yet. Is there a certain time of year that they breed?

Re:Breeding African cichlids - 2007/08/10 02:59 No, it doesn't depend on the time of year, it just depends on the condition/age of the fish, and the quality of the food and water
