What age/size do they start breeding? - 2008/06/20 18:18 Just a quick question, what size or age do lets say Convicts begin breeding? And do they carry eggs in their mouths? And two of my convict females are locking jaws what is that all about?

Re:What age/size do they start breeding? - 2008/06/21 08:46 Convicts are egg layers but are not mouth brooders. A pair will die guarding their fry. An average adult is about 4 inches (12 cm) and they will begin to breed at about 2 1/2 inches. Locking mouths is generally a fight and most often over territory. Hope this helps.

Re:What age/size do they start breeding? - 2008/07/02 10:28 So they weren't successful the first time around but they are back at it this time everything looks and seems to be going great turned up the temp in the tank and cut the light out for a few days and I think I will have some fry soon. I'm really excited never had fry before probably need some tips on how to care for them. But no real rush.
