Setting up a cichlid tank - 2008/06/21 21:35 Due to problems w/ my salt water fish only tank, I'm going to break that down and start a FW cichlid tank. My question is can I use the same substrate that was in the salt water tank (crush coral)? And the same rocks (base rock)? The tank was set up for 8 months. I also plan to use the sump for filtration using bio balls. Any problem w/ this? Thanks for the help! BTW, it'll be a 180 African Cichlid tank.

Re:Setting up a cichlid tank - 2008/06/22 06:20 If you're planning to use the same substrate and rocks, I would rinse them both, many many times. Sea salt is quite damaging to the health of freshwater fish, even tough cichlids. So make sure it's clean!
