Thinking about getting some - 2008/06/07 07:49 For the last 3+ years i have had fish, but tire of my current ones. I will be selling them or giving them back to a LFS and buying a 55 gallon off of my cousin. So, here is your task.

1 - pick some easy to care for african chichlids (i like these ones more )

2 - Tell me what their ideal layout would be (the VAST majority i've seen are rockscapes - are there any plants they like?

3 - give me some tips so i don't accidentally kill them please

have at it!

EDIT - make sure they are all from the same lake too!

Re:Thinking about getting some - 2008/06/07 09:21 Same lake or region? I've been mixing Tangs and Malawis for 8 years because of color variety. My favorites: Labs, Peacocks, demasonai, moori, zebras and maingano. I have tropheus (red saddles and duboisi) in another tank, but they are slightly more tedious to keep. Tips: crushed coral substrate, spirallina food, temp 78, Ph 8.2, any tall fake plant with full clusters, clay pots or pvc pipe with slate slabs and small sea shells to cover up are light weight decor. Africans are very hearty fish with very few health problems.
