Re:Firemouth Cichlid attacks my oscars - 2008/04/24 12:03 the firemouth is the second biggest fish in the tank, theres one oscar bigger then him and two smaller, in a 55 gal tank, i just rearranged the tanks decorations, and he calmed down for a little while, but hes back to his normal pleasant self,

Re:Firemouth Cichlid attacks my oscars - 2008/04/25 12:21 Maybe you should try removing him for a week, put him in a holder tank. Change 50% of water (remove hormones), then add him back in later.

Re:Firemouth Cichlid attacks my oscars - 2008/04/25 14:17 Ok ill give that a try, ive noticed some other things too, the firemouth made a nest in the back of the tank, and although ive never had a fish do this before, im thinking hes a she, and she may lay eggs? correct me if im wrong and would it still be best to move her if thats the case? thanks for the help.

Re:Firemouth Cichlid attacks my oscars - 2008/04/26 02:22 Yeah, I've had lone cichlid lay eggs, and then just eat them when they go unfertilized. It could also explain her aggressive behaviour.
