Emperor 280 w/ Biowheel - 2008/02/21 12:55 I have two of these on my 55 gallon tank. Is this good enough? Also, any suggestions on when/how to change out the media filter (I use the ammonia/carbon) mix rocks, and cleaning off the regular filter pads? I usually just rinse a little off of the filter pad and dip back in tank water I have scooped out. I noticed when I take them out to clean/change, the water gets alot of particles in it, but after awhile once I put them back in filter, the water will clear back up. Thanks.

Re:Emperor 280 w/ Biowheel - 2008/02/21 13:13 Don't know about the biowheel , but when you lift the filter housing or shut off the filter it loses it's suction , so it spits some of the gunk back into the tank ....

I am getting better at removing it . Next will leave it running till its out in a bucket .. See how that goes .... then I can clean the sponge and the housing ......

Re:Emperor 280 w/ Biowheel - 2008/02/21 13:15 Thanks. I usually leave them running anyway and do the media cartridge first, then the actual filter cartridge.
