Not a Johannis - 2008/02/20 14:55
Welp, after my experience with the beast (see fry and such) I have been doing some looking around .. And what I have come up with is that the beast , is a female Pseudotropheus demasoni . And when I bought I thought was an electric blue Johannis, really was a male Pseudotropheus demasoni . They are from lake Malawi and are of the Mbuna species .... They of that line are the most aggressive so it seems and really take over the tank .... This female was the smallest of my fish and grew to be the biggest . She was always tough and fearless from the get go... The male showed the same confidence when I put him in the tank .. He just didn't seem afraid ..The beast always liked him and I believe I posted here that she even seemed to protect him if another did decide to chase him around... Also hey are living happily ever after in the 5er ....
So know I know whats up with them... And also why she was sorta dull. Not real ugly but not fancy ... She has nice yellowish fins and can get a weird purple blue when she is calm ... He is a vibrant blue with black stripes , really neat looking fish...
Thought I would share this...
So what ya think Mum ..........
